Religious Nicho Frames

Devotional Art

Catholic Christianity was instilled in the native Aztec populations by the Spanish conquistadors in the 1500s. It remains the predominant religion in Mexico. Our handmade devotional and religious art is from three cities in central Mexico -- San Miguel de Allede, Puebla and Oaxaca. Our tin nichos feature images of the Lady of Guadalupe, and saints. Crosses range from sculptured wood bearing milgros to folksy tin crosses decorated with bottle-cap images.

Read More About Religious Nicho Frames

Our Mexican religious nichos, handmade of tin and glass, come from San Miguel de Allende. This Christian devotional art form honors beloved Catholic religious figures. Our most popular nichos honor the Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the Americas. You will also find some inspiring frames with images of Saint Joseph, Saint Anthony and Saint Jude.

All of our nichos make beautiful religious wall art. Those made by the workshop of Rocio Pindter Ortiz will also stand freely on a table top or other flat surface. All have hinged, glass doors to allow access to the inner compartment. You can personalize them by adding smaller pictures, dried flowers, milagros and medals. You could also remove or cover-up the image of the saint, and replace it with a photo of a beloved family member.

Our tin nichos are constructed by hand, and painted by hand, in the San Miguel workshops of Rocio Pindter and Jaime Hernandez Cruz.
